Metal & Woodcraft Workshop Stool
As part of my foundation year, we attended a week long workshop in order to learn wood and metal craft.
Our brief was to create a furniture set (4 stools and 1 table) for one of the meeting rooms in my college. I was assigned one of the 4 stools. The guidelines given to us were to use only wood and metal and reflect the identity of The Design Village in our designs, along with a sense of personalisation in order to denote the creator of each piece of furniture.
On our first day, we had an overnight ideathon in order to come up with designs for the stool.
Day 2 was to finalise the design on paper with proper measurements, and the rest of the week was used to actualise the piece.
I kept a clean and minimal design for my stool with a flat round seat.
I carved the logo of my college into the seat top in order to reflect the identity of the school, and personalised it by adding the pattern, which is the same pattern as my phone’s cover, which I have now used for around 4 years.
